We are delighted to have Terry McMahon joining us this year at the First Carlow International Film Festival. Terry will give a Writer/Director Masterclass, giving a unique insight into what it takes to get from the page to the screen. Terry is also judging our Best Feature Film Award this year.
Winner Directors Guild of America Finders Series Award, Grand Jury Prize Woodstock Film Festival, Best Film Galway Film Fleadh, Irish Times Best Film of the Year, Audience Award Cork Film Festival and The Grand Prix at Breaking Down Barriers VIII, Terry McMahon is writer-director of ‘Patrick's Day’ and ‘Charlie Casanova’ and has been awarded RKO Pictures Hartley-Merrill International Screenwriting Award, the Tiernan MacBride Screenwriting Award, The Irish Film and Television Award and has lectured in Trinity College, The National Film School, UCC, DIT, Colaiste Dhulaigh, Bow Street, Pulse College, Dundalk IT, The John Huston Film School plus The Casa del Cinema in Rome and The Kino-Teatr in Moscow.
We are delighted to Emma Owen of Babyjane Productions at the First Carlow International Film Festival. Emma will give a Masterclass in Producing and what it takes to find and produce the very best stories out there. Emma is also judging our Best Short Film Award.
Emma founded Babyjane Productions in 2013 having produced successfully numerous short films and worked as a producer on feature films such as Fishbowl City with IFTA winner Martin McCann; Twiharder with Between the Line Productions, as a production manager on the 3D feature animation film Two by Two: Oops the Arc has Gone with Moetion Films and currently line producing the stop motion animation film “Captain Morten and the Spider Queen with Telegael.
Today, Babyjane has offices in Galway and Northern Ireland working across feature film productions. Emma’s focus is on overseeing the development of our film slate and working as an Executive Producer or Producer, whether for our own slate, co-productions or as hired service provider. A performing arts graduate from University of Winchester (formally King Alfreds). Emma is also an established actress with over 20 years experience working all over the world.
During Emma’s time in London, she worked as a Front of House Supervisor and in the PR department for Sam Mendes at The Donmar Warehouse Theatre which also included working with Phillip Seymour Hoffman, John Ortiz and their theatre company LAByrinth Theatre, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and many other accomplished actors, directors and writers.
Supplementary employment as an executive assistant in the London corporate world with companies such as RBS, Ernest & Young, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, ABN ANMRO and JPMorganChase has allowed Emma to develop a variety of transferable business skills which she uses within her producing career.
